Created as part of a series of furniture for the Domus Academica student housing complex in Helsinki, the Domus chair was designed to be versatile. With the ergonomics to allow for long periods of sitting, the Domus chair's characteristic short arms mean it can be pulled close to the table while still offering support and comfort - perfect for studying at a desk or dining. Designed in 1946 by Ilmari Tapiovaara, the Domus chair went on to achieve great success internationally, becoming known as "The Finn Chair" - the design holds its own to this day, recognised as a versatile, timeless classic.
