The Story
The rocking version of the iconic Eames Fibreglass moulded chair design, the RAR rocking armchair is strikingly compact yet comfortable, even for taller users.///Description
Charles & Ray Eames first coined the idea for a moulded shell chair with interchangeable bases in 1948, in response to the 'International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design'.
The design duo recognised the potential in glass-fibre reinforced polyester resin as a versatile, low-cost material. Until then, fibreglass had been exclusively used within military applications, but the Eamesesâ introduced it to the furniture industry, using it to create their moulded, strong and lightweight chair shells. Through this innovation, the Fiberglass Chair was born.
The RAR fibreglass rocker features the original palette of warm natural colours developed by Charles & Ray Eames. It can be used to add a striking accent to any interior, with its iconic shape and steel wire base on wooden runners.
