In order to streamline the "ugly, confusing, unrestful world" that Saarinen observed underneath chairs and tables, Saarinen designed a collection of furniture with fluted pedestal bases. Now a design classic, the Saarinen oval table is a popular choice for dining rooms and meeting rooms.
