The Story

Originally produced in 1988 as SCP’s first upholstery piece, the Sofa No.3 by Jasper Morrison has been relaunched using natural and sustainable materials to celebrate our 40th Anniversary.///Description
Developing and launching a sofa in 1988 was a whole new direction for SCP. Morrison had created a number of versions of the design, including a chaise longue, and iterations with no back at all. SCP produced the most formal version: Sofa No.3, which had two armrests, a back and straight feet on all corners.

Sofa No.3 is an early example of Morrison’s eye for detail and his gift for creating pleasingly simple forms. The final version of the design is remarkably close to his early sketches, which accentuate the gentle curve of the seat, and the importance of the shape of the two removable cushions.
